Reading midfielder George Earthy is set to miss a number of weeks after suffering a plantar fascia injury, manager Leam Richardson has confirmed.
Earthy was absent from the squad for Saturday’s draw with Wycombe Wanderers, with Richardson revealing after the game that the 20-year-old had suffered the injury.
“George is going to be out for a number of weeks, so we’re still waiting on that one,” Richardson said.
“I think he’s torn the plantar fascia, in the medical term, so that’ll be a number of weeks, which is disappointing.”
The injury is a blow to Reading, with the exact length of Earthy’s absence yet to be determined.
His absence could provide opportunities for other members of Richardson’s squad, with Josh Stokes returning to the starting XI against Wycombe after previously being left out of the matchday squad.
Reading drew with Wycombe after conceding a late goal, with the result extending their run of fixtures as they look to build momentum in League One.
Richardson said he wanted his side to focus on the positives from the performance despite Earthy’s injury.
Reading’s next league fixture sees them face current leaders Bradford City at the Select Car Leasing Stadium on Saturday.
