Reading FC manager Ruben Selles admitted that his team’s performance was ‘far from good enough’ after they suffered a heavy defeat at Blackpool.
Reading’s dismal away form in the league continues after they were thumped by Blackpool.
The Royals found themselves three goals behind within half an hour.
Jordan Rhodes netted a treble for the Seasiders before a James Husband own goal gave Reading a consolation in the second-half.
“It was not good enough,” said Ruben Selles.
“We started to do things we can’t do and conceded three goals in the first-half which is not acceptable.
“We tried to change things in the second-half. It was not good enough, nowhere near, from anyone today.
“It was a very radical moment. We were not able to apply the press. The opposition was able to do it and we needed something radical to change the dynamic of the game.”
The Royals boss apologised to the travelling fans at the end of the game and explained what he discussed with them at full-time.
He continued: “Today we didn’t perform and I’m sure this group will be stronger going forward.
“They were disappointed, we are disappointed. We need to be on the same side.
“I told them ‘we know it’s not been good enough, but we need to do it together and try to put in a better performance next time’.
“We let them down because our performance was not there. I have no problem to speak with them in a respectful way. We will work for that to not happen again.
“They are competing every week. Obviously we need to learn from those situations. We are not only here to learn but to win football matches.
“We were not ourselves but we cannot repeat that kind of performance. If we lose it’s because the opponent is better, not because we stop playing or stop doing things together.”
