A man’s death in Reading is no longer being treated as suspicious following a post-mortem examination, police said.
Thames Valley Police was called at about 07:20 BST on Wednesday, 12 August, following concerns for the welfare of a man at an address in Wensley Road.
Officers attended the property and found the body of a man in his seventies.
An investigation was launched to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.
A 60-year-old man from Reading was arrested on suspicion of murder based on information available to officers at the time.
However, following a Home Office post-mortem examination and further inquiries, police said they were no longer treating the death as suspicious.
The 60-year-old man has been released from police custody with no further action.
A file will now be prepared for the coroner.
Police are continuing to establish the man’s movements before his death on behalf of the coroner and are appealing for information.
Officers are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who was in the Wensley Road area between 14:30 on 11 August and 08:00 on 12 August.
They are also asking anyone with CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage from the area to come forward.
Police said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the man who has sadly died.”
