Reading FC’s away struggles continued after veteran striker Danny Ings struck in the 90th minute to earn Wycombe a 2-2 draw.
Seeing out leads away from home continues to be a problem for the Royals who were unable to keep Wycombe out as Ings netted on his debut having only signed for the Chairboys yesterday.
Reading had looked on course to take all three points. They took the lead through Paudie O’Connor before former Royal Jayden Wareham equalised.
Striker Jacob Brown put Reading back in front before Ings’ late goal meant the points were shared.
It was another frustrating late blow for Reading, who have now conceded another decisive goal deep into a match away from home.
Many fans were frustrated by the result and reacted on social media. One fan said: “Away form needs to be sorted out quickly, would’ve taken a draw before the game but to throw away the lead twice is unacceptable.”
Another added: “A point on the road but could’ve been 3. Played alright with 2 key midfielders out. We must learn how to deal with crosses better. Onto Bradford.
One more said: “I would honestly love to know if there was a club in the Football League over the past 10 years that have dropped more points in the final 5 minutes of a game than Reading. There can’t be many, if any, surely. So incredibly frustrating and demoralising.”
Reading are in 9th place on 11 points from seven matches and will host top of the table Bradford City next weekend.
