A READING man has been jailed for nearly eight years after being convicted of a serious robbery which left a man with a bleed on the brain.
Michael Healey, aged 35, of no fixed abode, plead guilty to one count of robbery during a hearing at Reading Crown Court on July 30
He was handed an extended jail sentence of 7 years’ 10 months.
It follows an incident at an address in Oxford Road, Reading, at around 3am on May 21.
The victim, a man aged 32, was approached on Oxford Road by a male and female. The male proceeded to assault the victim and stole his phone and wallet before making off.
The victim was taken to hospital as he sustained a bleed on the brain and significant facial injuries.
He has since recovered and is no longer in hospital.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Georgia Parrott, of the West Berkshire Priority Crime Team, said: “This was a serious robbery in which the offender targeted the victim and caused significant distress.
“The sentence handed down by the court reflects the gravity of their actions.
“Throughout this investigation we worked tirelessly to identify and bring the offender before the courts.
“I would like to thank the victim for their patience and resilience during what has been a difficult process.
“We remain committed to tackling robbery and violent crime, and this result demonstrates that offences of this nature will be robustly investigated and offenders will be brought to justice.”
