READING FC legend Dave Kitson helped to lead the latest protest against club owner Dai Yongge as fans marched from the town centre to the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
Thousands of Reading fans gathered at Blue Collar Corner in the town centre as they united once again to show their disdain for the club’s ownership.
The protest march set off at 12.30pm and is planning to arrive at the SCL for approximately 2pm.
Under the current ownership, the club has suffered multiple points deductions, transfer bans, late wage payments to staff, relegation from the Championship to League One and the threat of administration.
A statement from protest group Sell Before We Dai reads: “We have had enough. We want him out. We want our club back.
“That’s why we are calling on all Reading fans to join us in a massive demonstration ahead of the Portsmouth game. We want to show Dai Yongge that he is not welcome here. That we are united, passionate and proud. That we are the beating heart of Reading FC. That we will not give up until he is gone.”
Reading East MP Matt Rodda added: “I am very concerned about the situation at Reading Football Club and I am working with the Sell Before We Dai Campaign and other supporters.
“I hope that the club can be bought by a suitable new owner who will invest in the club and help it get back into the Championship and I am calling on the Government to bring forward legislation to set up a regulator for football and for Reading to pilot this new approach to help protect the interests of players, fans and football clubs.”
