Reading FC manager Paul Ince has responded after being linked with the vacant Cardiff City manager’s position.

Ince led the Royals to Championship survival last season and has made a flying start this campaign which sees his team in third position.

“When you get these rumours it says the team is doing well,” said Ince.

“Every manager who goes to a club sits down with the owners and they say they’ve got a project.

“10 weeks later you’re out of a job. Look at someone like Rob Edwards at Watford.

“He must have spoken about a project and within 10 games he’s gone, it’s pure madness.

Ex-Reading FC winger’s next destination revealed

“I’ve always said that where we have a window for players, we should have windows for managers to get sacked. We’ve got no security or guarantee.”

Ince outlined his commitment to the job he has on his hands at Reading and praised the relationship he has with the players, staff and the owners.

He continued: “I love coming to work and I love the players, they’re great. They give me their all on the training ground and that’s important to me.

“I have a great relationship with Mark Bowen. We’ve talked about structuring the club.

“It’s slow at the minute because we have so many games, but we understand the situation.

“The owners understand the situation the club is in, the fans understand the situation we’re in and that makes my job easier.

“I feel I have more time to achieve what I want to achieve here than anywhere else.

“I wouldn’t say I feel complacent, but I feel happy here.

“The owner lets us get on with it and has put a lot of money into the club.

“We’re trying to bring the fans closer to the players. Why would I want to leave that?

“I feel more confident in what we’re trying to do to make it a special club. It can be a special club.

“It will take time, like anything, but I feel I will get more time than most managers to achieve what I want at this football club.”
