A joint burger restaurant and dessert parlour in Reading could stay open until 3am each night.
Fat Twins and Kaspas Desserts opened at The Granby Tavern in Cemetery Junction in December 2021.
Fat Twins is a franchise specialising in burgers with signature sauces, affordable meals and loaded fries, and has been referred to as a halal version of McDonald’s.
Meanwhile, Kaspas sells a range of ice cream, waffles, shakes and sweets to customers.
Both occupy The Granby Tavern building, which previously served as an LGBTQ+ pub which closed in 2012.
The operators have applied for a licence for late-night refreshment until 3am each day from Reading Borough Council.
It is understood that these hours will enable Fat Twins and Kaspas to process deliveries for people looking for a late-night food fix.
Customers can order deliveries through JustEat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats.
After 11pm, businesses require a licence to sell food and hot and cold non-alcoholic drinks.
A statutory consultation into the application is currently live.
You can respond to the consultation by emailing licensing@reading.gov.uk. The deadline for comments closes on Tuesday, July 21/
The 3am hours bid follows a successful application to stay open until midnight on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays that was approved by the council’s licensing department last August.
Following the closure of The Granby, the building was inactive for several years until it was opened as Sprinkles Gelato in December 2016.
Reports state Sprinkles closed during the coronavirus lockdowns in 2020 and never reopened.
