READING FC manager Paul Ince provided an injury update on his squad ahead of their Championship match with Queens Park Rangers.

The Royals host QPR on the back of an FA Cup win at home to Watford, meanwhile Rangers were defeated by League One Fleetwood Town at Loftus Road.

Former club captain Liam Moore was expected to return for the FA Cup third-round but picked up a hamstring injury in training.

However, after being scanned on Monday, the injury is less severe than first feared.

“They were good (the scan results),” said Ince.

“We thought the worst with him being out for such a period of time, but we’re looking at three or four weeks.

“Four weeks is the best we could have hoped for. The news is positive so hopefully he will be back in three or four weeks time.

“Tom Holmes is back flying in training. The illness he had was spreading through his family so we had to keep him away.

“We hoped it wouldn’t take as long as it took and thought we’d have him for West Brom. but he’s trained all week, looks fit and fresh and is ready to go.

“He (Sam Hutchinson) was a little bit sore. Again he has trained today and we have to be careful. I want all my players out there training to high standards but we have to be careful not to push them too hard.

“Tyrese (Fornah) is not ready yet. He did some running today but he will be another week away. He will be back with the team next week.”

Ovie Ejaria, who missed out on the club trip to Tenerife during the World Cup due to disciplinary reasons, is now back training with the squad.

Ince continued: “Ovie is back training with us now, he’s looked sharp. The injury was a few weeks, he’s back and what has gone on before has gone on.

“I’m not one to hold grudges, life is too short for that so he’s got to come in and fit in with what we’ve got to do.

“There’s nothing between the two teams. We have to compete and do the right things. We can keep the ball better.

“Sometimes we give it away too easy and we’re vulnerable to conceding goals so we’ve done work on that.

“With them losing to Fleetwood last week there will be a bounceback from them, but we are at home and we’re very good at home and have to keep that going.”
