A FUND-RAISING club continues to distribute the proceeds from its winter fund-raising events (Santa Sleigh and Woodcote 10K) to local charities.

Pangbourne Rotary Club is using the sums it raised to support Younger People with Dementia, and Tilehurst Community Crafters.

Younger People with Dementia(YPWD) Berkshire CIO operates a Making Memories scheme.

It is specifically designed to grant wishes for people under 65 living with young-onset dementia, and their families.

Pangbourne Rotary Club has donated £500 to make one person’s dream come true.

Community service chair Macolm Sandham, and president Brian Davies presented a cheque to YPWD marketing lead Amy Pagan.

Tilehurst Community Crafters enjoy knitting woollen items, which they donate to Reading’s Royal Berkshire Hospital, and other groups and individuals.

A Pangbourne Rotary member was so impressed with the crafters’ work that the club opted to donate £250 from its charity fund to support the enterprise which, apart from its knitting projects, also offers companionship and friendship for its 50 or more members.

Mal Sandham, Brian Davies and Rotary mascots were welcomed by Carole Biles and Diane Davies with around 30 knitting members, when they dropped in to present the group with a ceremonial cheque.

“All that we do is made possible by the generosity of the public who support our fund-raising events,” said Pangbourne Rotary Club member Brian Davies.

“Our next event will be an Art Exhibition and sale with a Schools Art Competition and craft stalls, which will be held at Pangbourne Village Hall the weekend of March 6 to March 8.

All are welcome.”
