Reading FC fans have reacted to Royals boss Leam Richardson after the team ended the League One campaign with a home defeat to Blackpool.
It concludes what was a dismal end to the season for Richardson’s side who blew their chances of making the play-offs with a disappointing last couple of months of form.
Several fans are calling for a change in the summer and want to see Richardson replaced. Supporters made their voices heard throughout the game against Blackpool with many chanting for Richardson to be sacked.
Reacting on social media after the game, one fan said: “The biggest reason the results are what they are Leam, is you, you select the team, you select the tactics, you motivate the players, you ignore medical advice. Stand up and take accountability for actions and decisions, stop blaming everyone else and everything else.”
Another said: “I know what he’s saying without even having the sound up. I can tell from his facial expressions and his head movements. This interview is just a copy and paste from any other 1-0 loss we’ve had. Absolutely the worst manager we’ve had.”
Despite the discontent among the fanbase, it appears that Richardson currently has the backing of the Reading hierarchy.
Reading finish the season in 12th place on 63 points.
Another fan added: “Literally the worst manager we’ve had in decades, which says a lot. I hope Rob Couhig and Todd Trosclair think about what the fans want for next season. Or there will be a serious dip in ticket sales for next season and financial concerns.”
One more said: “Reckon I genuinely enjoyed watching 2 games this season. There’s been no progression since LR took over and I don’t see that changing. I felt that LR used the interview to set himself in a good light should he be sacked. He clearly thinks that possible.”
