GCSE Results 2024: UTC Reading celebrates student successes on results day

UTC READING has commended its students as they collect their GCSE results today.

The STEM-focused school, which specialises in engineering, has marked a positive set of results, with 32% of of grades awarded being a B Grade or higher.

C Grades or higher made up more than 50% of Grades.

It also reported 58% of all grades being Distinction in BTEC L3 Extended Certificate in Engineering, with 100% of students passing the qualification.

Among its highlights were Mehrollah Shah Bakhsh, who was “very happy” with three A* grades and an A.

He is now set to head to Oxford University to study physics.

Inshaal Mirza was awarded two star-distinctions and a further distinction grade in BTEC L3 Extended Diploma in Engineering and now set to do a Mechatronics apprenticeship with Amazon with hopes of becoming a robotics engineer.

He said, speaking of UTC Reading: “If I had to do it all again I would– no regrets; it’s been great.”

Alice Griebeg got BBB in Biology, Physics and Maths and an A (epq), having already started a manufacturing engineering degree apprenticeship at a national defence company.

Alice said she would be celebrating: “By going back to work.”

Headteacher Jennie Thomson said: “We are extremely proud of the results that students have achieved today.

“There are fantastic success stories across our whole Year 13 group with both A Level and BTEC courses and I am very proud of all of our students.

Despite some really challenging circumstances over the last two years, students have shown excellent awareness, confidence and resilience and this is shown in their fantastic outcomes today, I wish all of them the best of luck in their next step to their future.”
