A fresh plan for luxury homes in Reading has been submitted following the recent rejection of a project for the same site.
A landowner wants to replace an existing bungalow located off Bath Road with five new homes suitable for families, despite a similar plan being rejected by the government’s planning inspectorate.
That is just one of the plans that have been submitted to Reading Borough Council’s planning department recently.
Elsewhere, changes have been made to add a building to a care home site.
Separately, progress is being made on a shop and flats next to a closed pub, and a house in one of the most beautiful streets in Reading is being turned back into two homes.

Fresh plan for luxury homes (PL/26/0582)
A landowner has submitted a fresh plan to replace a bungalow off Bath Road with five luxury homes.
The existing bungalow is situated at the end of a long driveway next to the Beech House Hotel, which could be converted into a nursery.
The council rejected that project, and an appeal to get the decision overturned was dismissed by the government’s planning inspectorate earlier this year.
Sketches from the previous application showed Porsche, Lamborghini and Range Rover cars parked in the driveways of the proposed homes, giving an impression of the calibre of occupier the developers want to attract.
Change to plan for new care home building (PL/26/0299)
The company that runs the Northcourt Lodge care home has applied to make a change to a new building that will expand the number of people it can look after.
The care home won permission for a new two-storey building containing 13 double bedrooms, with each coming with a wet room in 2022.
The latest news is that the care home has applied to re-arrange seven car parking spaces within the site.
Progress for shops and flats next to closed pub (PL/26/0145 and PL/26/0172)
Plans are progressing to create three shops and three flats at the building next to The Royal Albion in Oxford Road.
The building currently contains the Lux Lounge and a flat upstairs.
A plan was approved to transform the building to provide three shops and three flats created through extensions in June 2023.
Details of the construction, materials used, and compliance with BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) requirements have been approved.
Division one a house into two homes approved (PL/26/0370)
A plan to turn a terraced house in a beautiful street back into two homes has been approved.
New Road is a leafy street with terraced, semi-detached and detached properties in the Redlands Conservation Area in East Reading.
The house in question was previously two homes, but was at some point converted into one property.
The owner has won permission to turn it into two three-bedroom homes.
