Former Reading FC striker Andy Carroll has stated that he will be leaving French side Bordeaux to move closer to his family.

The 36-year-old former England international had two spells with the Royals.

He first joined Reading under Veljko Paunovic on a short term deal in 2021 before returning under Paul Ince.

In the first of two spells with Reading, he joined in 2021 on a short term deal where he scored twice in eight games.

After a short stint with West Brom, he returned to Reading in 2022 where he scored nine league goals in 32 matches.

Since departing Reading, he joined French side Amiens and spent one season with them before signing for fourth division side Bordeaux where he scored 11 times in 21 matches.
