A VENUE in Reading is welcoming a stalwart of the folk music scene as well as home-grown talent next week.

Face Bar is set to host singer-songwriter Richard Dawson, whose fourth album, Nothing Important, was released to critical acclaim in 2014.

He has since followed up with Peasant in 2017, which was selected by The Quietus as their album of the year, the 2019 album 2020, and 2022’s The Ruby Cord.

He has also worked with Finnish band Circle on a collaborative album, Henki.

He’ll be joined by Reading’s own Ben Marwood, who is supporting.

Marwood was among those performing alongside Frank Turner at the 2012 Summer Olympics opening ceremony, after having supported Turner on his headline tour the previous year.
