A NEW plushie dragon has arrived at Great Western Railway.
The winged soft toy is getting ready to join family rail travel adventures across the South West and South Wales.
Inspired by GWR’s Famous Five campaign, Five and the Dragon Quest, the cute little fellow needs just one thing before he gets on the train – a name.
The new recruit has already met children’s author Michael Rosen and podcast hosts Isy Suttie and Dan Skinner, as well as featuring in the latest Famous Five TV advert.
Now, GWR is calling on families and children to suggest a perfect name for the cuddly fire-breather.
The winner will receive tickets for a family train adventure, as well as their own dragon to take along for the journey.
GWR head of marketing, Helen da Costa, said: “We wanted to bring a little extra magic to the railway this autumn, and what better way than with a new dragon ready for its own adventures?
“We’re hoping customers will get their thinking caps on and come up with a name that’s truly legendary – there could be some fiery competition, but we’re sure someone will be able to come up with something that’s perfect for our newest member of the GWR family.”
GWR has already unveiled a statue of The Red Dragon at Cardiff Central station this year as part of a campaign celebrating the publication of its new collection of myths and legends, The Line to Legend Land.
These were released to mark the 100th anniversary of the Legend Land series, and includes 11 new myths from across the South West and South Wales.
GWR hopes to hear from people with their suggestions for a new name for the dragon.
