A POPULAR festive project is set to return this year, ensuring young people across the borough receive presents this Christmas.

Reading Family Aid’s Toys and Teens Appeal is back for 2023 after more than 3,000 children, many of whom would otherwise not have received a single gift, woke up to presents on Christmas morning.

The organisation is calling on members of the public to help its drive this year, either by dropping off toys at one of its donation points or by donating money to purchase additional toys.

With many families feeling the force of the cost-of-living crisis, donations can make a real difference this year. One family left the following ‘thank you’ message with Reading Family Aid after receiving gifts through the Toys and Teens Appeal: “Hi, thank you so much for the fantastic toys we received, this was the first time we had received toys from you.

“Our families were so grateful, everything was brilliant. We are so grateful to you for what you do. You made many children very happy, especially this year when things are very tough for so many. A massive thank you.”
