Huge new warehouses that can be seen near the M4 in Reading are almost complete, and one of them could be occupied by a leading car manufacturer.
For months, construction has been taking place for the Reading International Logistics Park, a collection of four warehouses which are visible when entering Reading from Junction 11 of the M4.
It is located directly opposite Campus Reading International, previously known as Reading International Business Park, which is home to US telecoms firm Verizon, software and services provider AspenTech, medical product company Baxter Healthcare and offices of other companies.
The logistics hub is being built on unoccupied land, which was secured by wooden fencing, visible from streetview imagery.
According to the Construction Map website, work began in August last year and is due to end in a month, on Monday, June 22.
The construction is being undertaken by Magrock, with the hub featuring four warehouse units for businesses once complete.
Unit 1 could be occupied by Tesla, as a representative of the company has applied to occupy it for use as a service area and an ancillary showroom.
This has been done in a planning application to Reading Borough Council.
An agent from ELG Planning stated the primary function of the facility will be for servicing, with a modest showroom with two cars providing an opportunity for existing Tesla customers to view new models.
