A FILM festival in Basingstoke is bringing a special event to silver screens in Reading next month.

Exit 6 Film Festival is holding a showcase evening at Reading Biscuit Factory in April as it marks its 10th anniversary this year.

The event will see a number of short films selected from the previous nine years of festivals, including drama, documentaries, horror, and comedy.

It will feature work from BAFTA- and Emmy-nominated film-makers who have also produced work for the likes of Netflix, Channel 4, and the BBC.

Exit 6 Festival takes place each September in the Vue cinema in Basingstoke, featuring Q&A sessions from attending film-makers, industry talks, and a late-night Awards Party included, and in 2023 it received British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) accreditation.

Festival Director Mark Brennan said: “Ahead of our tenth anniversary this year we want to show everyone the superb quality of the films our festival has to offer.

“Every year we select the best 45 short films from hundreds of submissions and the film-making talent, innovation and brilliance on show is truly inspiring.”

“We are curating a series of themed showcase evenings to highlight some of our very best films from previous years.

“This showcase, in conjunction with Reading Biscuit Factory, will be a ‘Best Of Exit 6’ night and features shorts from film-makers who’ve gone on to make film and TV for Netflix, Channel 4 and the BBC, and be nominated for Emmy and BAFTA awards.”

He explained: “We have everything on offer from comedy to horror, dramas to love stories, animation, documentaries and everything in between.

“Anyone who loves watching film will have an amazing day at Exit 6, and we hope that people will come along to this showcase to find out more and have a brilliant evening of quality film watching.”

The Best Of Exit 6 Showcase is showing at Reading Biscuit Factory on Thursday, April 3.
