WOKINGHAM is set to celebrate its LGBTQ+ communities with its annual Pride event this weekend, which will see a full day of activities and performances on Saturday.

There will be a gathering for photo opportunities at Wokingham Town Hall from 11.30am, followed by a parade to Elms Field, where residents are invited to a family-friendly picnic from noon.

This year’s event will see performances from award-winning pop-rock stalwarts Greymatter, popular covers outfit Candy Rock, and purveyors of pop with a Western twist, The Country Chix.

The Station Tap is also hosting a drag brunch with Semi Colon from 10am-noon, followed by a whole host of drag entertainment from 6.30pm until 9pm, when DJ Miss Delilah will take over.

Semi Colon combines art and glamour in their drag, and is fresh from performing in Soho during London Pride on Saturday.

The Pride event is free to attend and welcomes anyone who supports the aims of Wokingham Pride.

Wokingham Pride was set up in 2020 by LGBTQ+ residents ahead of its first in-person event the following year.

Organisers also hold a number of events year-round which provide safe spaces in Wokingham, which also go towards funding the Pride event.

Wokingham Pride takes place on Saturday, July 8, at the Wokingham Town Hall.

More information is available via Wokingham Pride’s Facebook page.
