The Supporters Trust at Reading has released the newest details regarding a takeover of the club following a meeting with Nigel Howe.

Howe, former CEO of Reading, has been asked by owner Dai Yongge to oversee the sale of the club.

Howe is meeting with STAR weekly to give them updates on the takeover situation.

Their latest meeting took place on Monday and they updated the Royals fans via Twitter.

Their post reads: “STAR meeting with Nigel Howe: Still progressing – one bid is moving forward, but we are still looking at other bids.

“New bidders have come forward this week and other bidders have left the process due to not meeting the Club’s strict criteria. Nigel has a busy week ahead.”

The Royals currently sit in 16th place in League One and have been docked four points this season and a total of 16 points under Dai’s ownership since he took control of the club in 2017.

Reading fans are continuing to protest the current ownership throughout the season and have held several effective protests, including a pitch invasion during their match with Port Vale in January which meant the game was abandoned in the 16th minute, leading to national media coverage of the event.

Pressure group Sell Before We Dai are also continuing to lobby the government to help try to introduce a new independent regulator to try and solve football’s ownership problem.
