Midfielder Andy Rinomhota is likely to have played his final match for Reading FC after the club confirmed that he has suffered an injury which will see him miss the rest of the season.
Rinomhota rejoined Reading on a short-term deal in January but has struggled for opportunities under manager Leam Richardson. He’s played a total of just 117 minutes in League One during his second spell with the Royals.
The 29-year-old, a product of Reading’s academy system after joining from AFC Portchester in 2015, has made more than 130 appearances for the Royals and became a key figure in midfield, particularly in his first spell with the club.
Rinomhota will now miss the final two games of the season and is likely to depart as a free agent when his deal expires.
Despite not having anything left to play for in the league after a recent poor run of form scuppered any hopes of making the play-offs, Reading still have two games left to complete the season.
A trip to Rotherham United on Saturday is followed by the final game of the campaign against Blackpool at the Select Car Leasing Stadium on Saturday, May 2.
However, with nothing to play for and with a large section of the fanbase dismayed with the direction of the team under manager Richardson, a low turnout is expected.
