RESIDENTS are being advised to avoid the site of a fire in Reading as emergency crews deal with an incident in a block of flats.

Teams from Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service are still responding to a fire in Patriot Place, Central Reading.

Reports of a fire were received just before 2.30pm earlier today (Tuesday, August 18), when crews from Caversham Road, Wokingham, Slough, Whitley Wood, and Windsor fire stations were sent to the scene.

They were also joined by an officer and the Aerial Ladder Platform from Whitley Wood Fire Station.

There they discovered a fire in a block of flats, which they have continued to respond to.

Crews are still at the scene, and members of the public are advised to avoid the area.
