A man in his 60s has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man in his 70s was found dead at a property in Reading.
Thames Valley Police was called to Wensley Road at about 07:20 BST on Wednesday, 12 August, following concerns for the welfare of a man.
Officers attended the address and found the body of a man in his 70s inside the property.
A murder investigation has been launched and a 60-year-old man from Reading remains in police custody.
Officers were still at the scene on Thursday carrying out enquiries.
Detective Inspector Jon Morely, of the Reading Criminal Investigation Department, said police did not believe there was any ongoing risk to the wider community.
“Our thoughts remain first and foremost with the family and friends of the man who has sadly died,” he said.
“We know that this news is likely to cause concern locally, however we do not believe there to be any ongoing risk to the wider community.”
Police have appealed for information from anyone who was in the Wensley Road area between 14:30 on Tuesday, 11 August, and 08:00 on Wednesday, 12 August.
Officers are particularly interested in CCTV, doorbell and dashcam footage from the area which has not already been provided to police.
DI Morely urged people not to share speculation on social media while officers establish the circumstances surrounding the death.
“There will continue to be a visible police presence in the area, and we encourage anyone with concerns to speak with officers at the scene,” he said.
