A READING fashion show celebrated a Charvil charity with style.

My Cancer My Choices (MCMC)’s sixth annual charity fashion show was held at Pentahotel, Reading, where 10 Berkshire models, who have all been supported by the charity, took to the catwalk to showcase two carefully styled looks.

Each outfit was selected with help from a John Lewis personal styling team, with professional make-up provided on the day by Clarins.

Four of the models: Hilary O’Rourke, Simon Neville, Navdeep Gill, and Helen Harvey, are from Twyford and Wokingham.

In front of around 130 friends, family and supporters, all 10 participants walked the runway to tunes of their choice, to commentary from Richard O’Rourke, and songs delivered by Chris from Dark Star Discos.

Inspirational speaker for the event was Wokingham cancer awareness campaigner Dalia Ismail.

In an afternoon of courage, energy and celebration, models had an exciting opportunity for to regain confidence and create cherished memories.

Some went solo, others strode (or danced) the catwalk with family members.

“But they all threw themselves fully into the occasion,” said a MCMC spokesperson.

Claire Rhodes, chief executive of My Cancer My Choices said: “The show has been described as, ‘amazing, joyful, remarkable and unforgettable.’

“It highlighted not only participants’ resilience, but also the supportive role of the local community.

“Thank you to everyone who helped make this show truly uplifting and so very memorable.”

John Lewis & Partners Reading has been instrumental in the success of the event.

For six years, the retailer has been providing styling expertise and support to make the models feel special.

The Circle Agency provided a special look for the event, including a shimmer wall for memorable photographs of the models and their family and friends taken by Danesh Pamar.

MCMC thanks Pentahotel, John Lewis & Partners Reading, The Circle Agency, Darkstar Discos and Danesh Pamar.
