A man in his twenties was raped and robbed in the car park of a West Berkshire nature reserve, police have said.
Thames Valley Police said the victim was attacked from behind by an unknown man at Padworth Common Nature Reserve at about 18:30 BST on Thursday.
During the assault, the offender is also reported to have stolen £50 from the victim’s pocket before leaving the scene.
The victim is being supported by specially trained officers.
Detectives are now appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage as they continue their investigation.
The suspect has been described only as a man who spoke with a local accent and was wearing white shoes.
Officers are also keen to speak to anyone who may have seen a red vehicle in the area around the time of the incident.
Detective Inspector Beverley Pearse said officers were carrying out “thorough and extensive” enquiries to establish exactly what happened and identify the offender.
She said: “Since the rape was reported to us, we have been carrying out a number of enquiries to establish exactly what happened and identify the offender.
“As part of that ongoing investigation, we are now appealing to the public for information that may assist us.
“I would like to hear from anyone who may have seen this incident or part of the incident as it unfolded. We are particularly keen to hear from motorists with dash-cam footage recorded in the area around the time of the offence, as this may assist our investigation.”
Det Insp Pearse added that there would be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days to continue enquiries, reassure the community and help keep people safe.
