READING Women spurned a two-goal lead in their 3-2 defeat against Everton at the Select Car Leasing Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Charlie Wellings was adjudged to have been brought illegally inside the penalty area in the opening minute – Justine Vanhaevermaet stepped up and slotted past Courtney Brosnan.

The Belgian grabbed a second soon after, side-footing home from eight yards out after good work from Sanne Troelsgaard down Reading’s right.

But the visitors halved the deficit before half time through Hanna Bennison, before parity was restored on the hour mark as Katja Snoejis converted from the spot.

Nicoline Sorensen completed the comeback, scoring the pick of the bunch – an exquisite left-footed curled effort – to earn her side all three points.

Grace Moloney 6.5: Made some decent reflex stops, including one impressive one-on-one save against Sevecke. Helpless to Everton’s first and third, and went the wrong way for Snoeijs’ spot kick.

Emma Mukandi 6: Defended staunchly and got forward well, putting in some teasing balls into the box, particularly in the first half. Faded in the second 45.

Diane Caldwell 6: Gave the penalty away for Everton’s equaliser. Went about her business relatively confidently otherwise.

Easther Mayi Kith 7: Assured and wasn’t afraid to bring the ball out from the back. The pick of the centre halves.

Amalie Eikeland 5: Struggled to adapt to her right back role. Failed to track Lucy Hope’s run in the lead-up to Everton’s first and was lucky not to get punished after a mistake in the second half.

Justine Vanhaevermaet 7.5: Took both of her goals well in the opening stages, but was otherwise subdued. Kept occupied by the visitors’ busy midfield.

Rachel Rowe 6: Not the Welshwoman’s most impressive showing, but was industrious in the middle of the park. Never gave up the ghost.

Tia Primmer 6: Worked tirelessly out of possession. Wasn’t able to create as much in the way of chances as she would have liked. Made way on the hour mark.

Charlie Wellings 7: Won the penalty in the first minute and remained positive throughout. Put some dangerous balls into the box.

Emma Harries 6: Deployed on the right side of midfield and did her utmost to affect the game on both ends of the pitch. Tired as the game entered the latter stages.

Sanne Troelsgaard 7: Set up the second nicely, regaining possession high up and spinning past her marker. Led the line with energy.

Substitutes:

Faye Bryson: Made some useful challenges after coming on.

Brooke Hendrix: Replaced Mayi Kith and slotted in well at the back.

Madison Perry: N/A
