A MURDER investigation has been launched in Reading following a stabbing in East Reading.
Officers responded to multiple reports of a stabbing in an alleyway in Lower Early at around 4.25pm on Saturday, May 23.
A man in his twenties was found stabbed at the scene, and was treated by medical professionals before being taken to hospital, where he later died.
The man’s next of kin have been informed, however formal identification and post-mortem processes are yet to have been completed.
Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit has launched a murder investigation, and scene watch is currently in place in the alleyway between Cutbush Lane and Kensington Close and through to the alley between Cutbush Lane and Gypsy Lane.
A teenage boy from Reading has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Nick Hind, of the Major Crime Unit said: “Our thoughts remain with the man’s next of kin following his death.
“We understand this murder will be of concern to the community, but we do not believe there is any threat to the wider public.
“We are in the early stages of a complex investigation, but we are following several lines of enquiry to establish the full circumstances around the murder.
“Members of the public are likely to see an increased police presence in the area while we investigate, and we would advise anyone with any concerns to please speak to one of our uniformed officers.
“I would ask that at this time people refrain from speculation on social media or other mediums whilst we investigate to find the truth behind this incident and loss of life.
