TWO MUSEUMS in Reading are inviting neurodivergent visitors of all ages to take in their exhibits in a suitable and safe environment through an inclusive programme.
Developed with Autism Berkshire, ‘Museums, My Way’ sessions at Reading Museum and The Museum of English Rural Life to explore what they have to offer, in their own ways.
At The MERL, the free, bookable sessions take place on Mondays when the museum is usually closed or less busy. The next date is October 23.
These sessions feature activities based on the museum’s collections, including gallery trails and hands-on activities. Reduced volume of gallery interactive sounds, sensory backpacks and ear defenders and quiet break-out spaces make for a more tailored experience.
Siblings, families, carers and friends are all welcome.
The event is free but requires prior booking – it takes place from 10am-2pm.
