A local MP has issued an apology after a social media post was questioned by residents.

Yuan Yang, the member of parliament for Earley and Woodley, posted a message on her own Facebook page on Friday in support of National Fish and Chip day.

In her ost she was pictured outside Top Table on Wokingham Road in Earley.

Her post said: “.. my team and I enjoyed a lovely takeaway from Top Table”, and also emphasised the importance of local eateries to the local community.

Several subsequent replies to her post highlighted the fact that the business had closed from June 3, with plans to reopen on June 13.

In a statement to Wokingham Today, she said: “Unfortunately, I knew my schedule was too busy to visit the shop on the day itself, so I decided to pop in with my team on the previous Friday to make sure we could send out a message of support in time for National Fish and Chip day.
