FOLLOWING a sold-out inaugural event, Reading’s homelessness charity, Launchpad, has announced the return of its Solstice Sunset Swim this summer.
Held on the longest day of the year, the midsummer event invites participants to ‘slow down, switch off’ and join together for an evening of reflection, wellbeing and connection.
It also raises vital funds to support people facing homelessness across the town
The Summer Solstice Swim blends mindfulness, nature and gentle adventure, set against the calm waters of Dinton Pastures at sunset.
The programme includes a welcome drink, a guided meditation, yoga, and a deeply relaxing sound bath, as well opportunities for an open water swim and a portable sauna.
All proceeds, including a charity raffle with donated prizes, will go directly to Launchpad.
Fundraising Manager Fiona Keyte said. “Mental wellbeing is a huge part of recovery for the people we support, so this evening feels particularly meaningful.
“We were blown away by the response to our first Solstice Sunset Swim, and we’re so excited to be bringing it back for a second year.
“Events like this are about far more than fundraising — they create space for people to pause, reflect and reconnect, while also helping Launchpad continue its vital work supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our community.
The Launchpad Summer Solstice Swim takes place at Dinton Pastures Activity Centre from 7.00pm on Sunday, June 21.
The event is open to those aged 14 and over, but under18s must be accompanied by an adult.
