BACK for its 26th year, Whiteknights Studio Trail (WST) invites art seekers into the homes and studios of local talented artists.

Twenty three venues around the area of the Whiteknights campus, University of Reading, will display the work of 33 artists, who will be on hand to discuss their work, and to take commissions.

A wide variety of work can be seen by trail visitors, including: drawings, paintings, sculptures, textiles, jewellery, ceramics, photography, printing and glass.

These will not only be on display, but also available to buy.

Jenny Halstead, co-founder of Whiteknights Studio Trail and exhibiting artist, said: “All our artists are looking forward to welcoming new and returning visitors to their venues over the WST weekend.

“And this year, I am thrilled to say we have the use of Acacias (Venue 8) for three different exhibitors.

“This year on Christchurch Road (venue 16), we celebrate with photographs and memories, the University of Reading and its centenary, and their sponsorship of Whiteknights Studio Trail, with a pop-up exhibition of Christchurch Green shops from 1906 through to 2026.”

The link with University of Reading is of special significance this year, as the University celebrates its centenary year.

It also marks the University’s 21 years of sponsorship of the WhiteKnights Studio Trail.

The trail first launched in 2001, developed from an idea in 2000 by Susanna Beer, Pip Hall and Jenny Halstead.

It has been given a website makeover this year, featuring interactive links to the artists, with information on what they do and where they are located.

It is designed to be more accessible, and to give people a sense of what’s on offer for this year’s Trail.

The walking tour of artists’ studios in the University of Reading area takes place on Saturday and Sunday, June 13 and 14, from 11am until 6pm on both days.

Seven of the venues will be serving refreshments.
