THE ROYAL Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) was called to a roof fire in Reading earlier this week.

At 12:08 am on Wednesday, February 5, the RBFRS received reports of a fire at Erleigh Road.

Crews from Caversham Road, Wokingham Road and Whitley Wood fire stations were sent to the scene, as well as the Aerial Ladder Platform from Whitley Wood Fire Station.

At the scene, they discovered the first floor and the annexe of a two-storey house on fire.

Four firefighters used three hose reels and a hydrant to tackle the fire, spending around an hour and 15 minutes on the scene.
