Former Reading FC star Ovie Ejaria has linked up with ex-Royals boss Veljko Paunovic ahead of a potential reunion.

The 27-year-old midfielder has not played a competitive match since the 2022/23 season, but is looking to reignite his career.

He is currently on trial with Spanish side Real Oviedo, who recently won promotion to La Liga for the first time in 24 years who were led to victory by Arsenal hero, 40-year-old Santi Cazorla.

Cazorla recently signed a one-year extension with Oviedo to extend his time with his boyhood club.

Real Oviedo announced that Ejaria would be on trial with them on X: “Midfielder Ovie Ejaria will train on trial with the first-team under Paunovic’s orders.”

After two successful loan spells with Reading, Ejaria was purchased by the club from Liverpool for around £3million in 2020.

However, after Paunovic was sacked by Reading in 2022, he was unable to recapture his early form for the club due to both injury and disciplinary issues.

That led to his contract eventually being terminated by Reading in December 2023 after a long spell away from the first-team.

He will now be looking to win a contract at Oviedo in the top flight of Spanish football under Paunovic, who was appointed as their manager in March 2025.
