The first phase of a controversial cycle route in Woodley has moved to the next phase.
Wokingham Borough Council has almost finished building the first phase of its active travel route from Woodley precinct to Palmer Park in Reading.
According to a post on Facebook, work on the cycle track in Woodlands Avenue was completed on Saturday, August 22, with construction moving ‘straight to the next phase’.
The post states: “This will see us working on Church Road, at its junction with Woodlands Avenue, before we move on to Culver Lane in Earley.
“We’ve painted double yellow lines on Woodlands Avenue to stop people parking, along with 20mph markings to enforce the speed limit.
“Where the cycle track and footway cross side roads, motorists should slow and give way to pedestrians and cyclists who are crossing or about to cross.
“This is part of the Highway Code and applies to all side roads, not just those with continuous crossings.”
