Residents and police joined forces for a community litter pick in Katesgrove, Reading, as part of ongoing efforts to improve the local environment and strengthen neighbourhood relationships.
PCSO Gray teamed up with volunteers from the Katesgrove Community Association to clear litter from streets around the area. Organisers said the group continues to dedicate significant time and energy to supporting the community and helping maintain local pride.
Events like the litter pick aim not only to make the neighbourhood cleaner, but also to provide a visible police presence and encourage engagement with residents. Officers said working alongside volunteers helps build trust and creates opportunities to discuss local concerns.
Participants reported noticeable improvements following the clean-up, with streets already looking cleaner and brighter.
Police will continue community engagement later this week. Katesgrove residents are invited to meet officers and Reading Borough Council staff at the junction of Essex Street and Elizabeth Walk on Tuesday 21 April, between 14:30 and 15:30. The session will provide an opportunity to raise concerns about crime or anti-social behaviour and receive crime prevention advice.
