Reading FC fans have reacted after former fan favourite Yakou Meite posted pictures of him playing for the Royals on social media.
The Ivorian forward, who spent seven years with Reading, posted on his Tik Tok account and also on X, which has led to messages from supporters asking him to return to the club.
Meite joined Reading from Paris Saint-Germain in 2016 and played 165 times for the Royals across six seasons and netted 47 goals before he departed after the club’s relegation to League One in 2022/23.
He spent two seasons with Cardiff City before spending last season in the Saudi Pro League with Damac, where he signed a two-year deal last August.
Reading did explore the option of potentially bringing him back to the club last summer when he was a free agent, but they would now need to agree a deal with Damac FC if they are to reunite with the 30-year-old forward.
Reacting on X, one fan said: “Marriott and Yaks up front would tear League One apart.”
Another said: “I was hoping it would be coming home in 2026 but I didn’t think it would be like this!”
Meanwhile, one fan added: “Why do people think this is him coming back, he’s just uploaded some old photos or am I missing something?”
The reaction on TikTok was also overwhelmingly positive.
One supporter said: “Come back and get us back to the Championship.”
Another added: “Come home Yakou please take us back up.”
One more said: “Is this a teaser, come home Yak.” and another said: “Come home Meite, we all miss you!”
