A POPULAR Wokingham pub is welcoming visitors for the first time since its relaunch.
The Bull Inn at Arborfield Cross was taken over by Tom and Alicya Jackson in April and has since undergone significant refurbishment, which has included a menu overhaul and the recruitment of a new front and back of house staff.
The pub’s return was well-received on social media, with 1,600 people liking the announcement post on Facebook and just under 300 well-wishes left in the comments section.
General manager Rob Dunn said: “It’s been a long time coming and a lot of work has been put into it. We’re ecstatic, all of us.
“This is a 450-year-old pub, so it holds an important place in the village. We’ve created an outdoor garden and a fresh new kitchen and bar to serve pizza and cocktails from.
“The main restaurant has had a whole refurb, with new curtains and other changes to the inside.
“The menu is basically just below fine dining. I’d say it’s better than a gastro pub and one level below the Shard. We’ve got all your steaks, duck and lamb.
“We’re trying to build a community hub. If you want to come and have a drink with your mates you can, if you want a romantic date, cocktails, night out, family time, you name it you can.”
Rob added that he hopes to establish a series of regular social events at The Bull Inn, including live music and a monthly comedy night.
A new children’s play areas ensures that the pub remains the ideal place for the family to spend an afternoon.
