NEWLY appointed Wokingham Borough Council Mayor, Cllr Jewell, has chosen as her charity for the year, a group that supports the area’s disabled children and their families.
Building for the Future (BFTF) sends her their congratulations and says they are thrilled to have been chosen by her.
Jane Holmes, CEO of the charity, said: “Building for the Future is entering a period of significant growth and expansion over the coming year as we move into bigger and better premises.
“These are very exciting times for us, and of course made more so by this huge honour.
“We very much look forward to working with Cllr Jewell over the coming year to make it as rewarding and successful as possible.
“We are deeply honoured by this recognition and cannot wait to get started on what promises to be a transformative year — for us, for the families we serve, and for our incredible community.”
Building for the Future supports disabled children, young adults, and their families.
Its community hub, Our House, is an inclusive, accessible play therapy centre where currently more than 500 children with disabilities and additional needs can find acceptance and joy.
The charity is looking to move to bigger and more bespoke, inclusive premises on Thames Valley Park.
It hopes to open its new doors by the end of the year, to support even more children, young people and their families to access Our House free of charge.
