THE FIRST round of acts has been announced for Reading’s biggest festival when it returns next summer.

Reading Festival has officially added the first names to its bill for 2024, with some returning stars among the earliest to be announced as well as some first-timers to the event.

Blink-182 were the first act announced on BBC Radio 1 at 6.05pm by Sian Eleri, who is hosting the station’s Future Sounds slot.

Fred Again was also announced, following a cryptic post to social which said that the only festival he would be playing this year was “the first [he] ever went to.”

This was followed by the addition of singer/songwriter RAYE, pop giant Lana Del Ray, and Britpop royalty Liam Gallagher.

Catfish and the Bottlemen will also be in attendance alongside Digga D, Skrillex, SpiritBox, and Gerry Cinnamon, who is making his return following a stand-out performance in 2021.

Pop-punk purveyors Blink-182 were last at Reading in 2014, and rumours swirled around the band making an appearance at the event again after fans noticed that their upcoming tour did not include dates during the August bank holiday weekend.

The announcement comes hot on the heels of their latest album, which was released back in October, and in advance of their tour dates in the UK and Ireland in the last week of August 2024.

Meanwhile Liam Gallagher has announced that he will be playing Oasis’ album Definitely Maybe in full at the festival to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its release.

Reading Festival returns to Richfield Avenue from Thursday-Sunday, August 21-25, next year.
