YAKOU MEITE will leave Reading FC this summer after he opted not to extend his contract with the club.
The Royals had offered a new deal to the Ivorian, but he has decided to end his seven year spell with the club and move on a free transfer.
Meite has been with Reading since joining from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer in July 2016.
After a one year loan deal in France with Sochaux, Meite has become a regular in the Royals team under various managers and has provided a consistent stream of goals during his six seasons in Berkshire.
The 27-year-old netted 37 goals in 102 Championship matches between 2018-2021 before he suffered a cruciate ligament rupture which kept him out for almost seven months.
Since returning from injury, Meite struggled at the back end of the 2021/22 campaign which became the first season that he didn’t manage to score a league goal since arriving.
Meite leaves the club with a record of 42 goals in 156 Championship matches.
