A READING secondary school is celebrating a positive Ofsted inspection outcome, with inspectors praising its friendly atmosphere, inclusive ethos and strong leadership driving rapid improvement.

Inspectors described Theale Green School as friendly, and a place where pupils feel safe, happy and confident, and where they are “known, supported and cared for” by staff.

Headteacher Charlotte Badarello said: “We are delighted that Ofsted recognised the strengths of our school and the positive experience of our pupils.

“It is especially pleasing that inspectors saw how safe, happy and supported our young people feel every day.

“This report reflects the rapid progress we have made as a school community.

“It is a testament to the hard work, resilience and fierce determination of our staff, pupils and families to ensure Theale Green continues to thrive.

“We are proud of how far we have come and remain fully focused on continuing our journey of improvement, so that every pupil leaves us confident, successful and ready for their future.”

Pupils told inspectors they are proud to attend the school and benefit from a nurturing environment that helps them thrive.

The report highlights the school’s inclusive ethos, with staff building strong relationships so that every pupil is known, valued and supported.

Ofsted also recognised the school’s targeted support for pupils, with clear systems in place to remove barriers to learning and ensure every student can succeed.

The curriculum was praised as “ambitious, broad and balanced,” preparing pupils well for their next steps in education, employment or training, and supporting them to develop into well‑rounded, responsible young adults.

The inspection follows a period of significant change, with inspectors acknowledging the school’s rapid journey of improvement.

Leaders were recognised for their clear vision, high expectations and commitment to ensuring the best outcomes for pupils.

Rachel Cave, Chief Education Officer (CEdO) of ALET, said: “This is a fantastic outcome for Theale Green School.

“The report is clear recognition of the rapid progress made and the unwavering commitment of staff and leaders to getting the very best for every pupil.

“At Activate Learning Education Trust (ALET), we believe every child deserves to feel safe, supported and inspired to succeed, and this report shows Theale Green is delivering exactly that.

“We’re proud to support the school as it builds on this momentum and continues to go from strength to strength.”
