FAMILIES visiting The Oracle Shopping Centre this February half term are being invited to take part in a free, family-friendly scavenger hunt designed to spark curiosity, conversation and kindness.

Running throughout the half term week, the Kindness Crew Scavenger Hunt will see children and families search for clues hidden around the shopping centre.

Each stop introduces one of the Kindness Crew characters and shares a simple insight into how people can experience the world differently on the inside, from anxiety and autism to ADHD and hearing loss.

As families move around the centre, participating retailers are helping to bring the trail to life by welcoming families, offering encouragement and creating a friendly, inclusive environment for children taking part.

Simple interactions–a smile, a hello, or helping with a clue–are all part of making the experience feel positive and supportive.

The initiative comes at a time when kindness, empathy and inclusion have never been more important.

UK Department for Education data shows that around one in five school pupils in England have special educational needs, many of which relate to hidden differences, such as neurodiversity, learning differences and social or emotional needs.

This means many children and adults are navigating daily life carrying challenges that others simply can’t see.

The Kindness Crew Scavenger Hunt is designed to make these ideas accessible and positive for children, without lectures or labels.

Instead, it encourages families to be curious rather than make assumptions, to ask rather than guess, and to and choose kindness in everyday moments.

Simon Houghton, founder of The Kindness Crew, said: “Not every difference is obvious.

“This scavenger hunt uses play and storytelling to help children understand that everyone is dealing with something, and that small acts of kindness can make a big difference.”

Andy Briggs, Destination Director at The Oracle, said: “At The Oracle, we are continually striving to be an inclusive destination for everyone who visits us.

“We’re delighted to be hosting the Kindness Crew Scavenger Hunt during the February half term, giving families a fun and engaging way to explore the centre while learning about kindness and understanding.

“We’ve been thrilled by the level of support and participation from our retailers, and we’re proud to be able to offer an initiative that brings together families, stores and the wider community in such a positive way.”

Every family that completes the scavenger hunt will receive a digital Kindness Crew Discovery Pack, packed with simple activities and ideas to help continue conversations about kindness at home.

The focus of the trail is on enjoying the experience together — taking time to explore, talk and notice small acts of kindness along the way.

The trail is suitable for primary-aged children and their families, takes around 30–45 minutes to complete, and is completely free to take part in.

No booking is required.Families can simply pick up the trail card, heading to Level 1 near Goldsmiths.
