Thames Valley Police have confirmed that a man died as a result of a collision in the car park of Reading’s Royal Berkshire Hospital.
The incident happened around 4.45pm on Wednesday, March 13, and now police are appealing for witnesses.
In a statement, they said a grey Mitsubishi Outlander hit a pedestrian on the first floor of the Craven Road multi-storey car park.
The 58-year-old man died at the scene, and trained officers are supporting his next of kin.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, and the car park was partially closed to allow an investigation to take place.
It has since reopened.
The hospital remained open throughout.
Senior investigating officer Detective Sergeant Tony Jenkins, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Tragically, a man has died following this collision and our thoughts are with his loved ones.
“I would ask for anyone who saw the collision to contact us.
“I would also ask any drivers with a dashboard camera who were driving in the car park at the time to check their recordings and let us know if they have captured anything that could help our investigation.
“You can get in touch by calling 101 or via our website, quoting reference number 43240118275.”
A spokesperson for the Royal Berkshire Hospital said: “We can confirm Thames Valley Police is investigating an incident in the hospital car park and we are working closely with their officers to establish exactly what happened.
“The hospital remains open and the car park is now reopened so people who need to attend appointments are asked to come as usual.”
