Ruben Selles has said that his side needs to continue to be ‘ruthless’ after moving out of the relegation spots thanks to 3-2 win against Exeter on New Years Day.
He said: “So now for us it’s about being ruthless to just do the job, to go and compete and go and compete and over and over and over again. This is our task now.”
“I think if we do that, the end of the season will be a good end point for us. But we also need to remember that the circumstances around us are not always the best ones, and that’s why we take it day by day.”
Tom Holmes was not apart of the matchday squad at all which prompted concern from many fans, however the Reading boss shared an injury update on the defender which explained his absence.
“Yeah, after the Cheltenham game he had some discomfort in his calf, and again yesterday in the very beginning of the warm up. So he was not available for today.”
He continued: “Hopefully it’s nothing. Tomorrow we will have the scan and we will see, but hopefully it’s nothing and he can be available for the next game.”
The Royals conceded yet again after failing to defend a cross and Selles confirmed that it is something that he and his staff are working on, saying that they must improve.
He explained: “ We are working on that. I think the situation in the corner, they are a very good team in those kinds of situations. We didn’t defend it well. I think because of the way that we defend, sometimes the teams are funding these crosses more.”
“We need to be better. We know we need to be better and I think that we have been better but it is still punishing us. So we are working on it and we will continue working until we, not eradicate, but reduce a lot those situations.”
