A NEW regular revue is bringing international and local drag alike to a venue in Reading.

Kream Cabaret looks set to become a regular feature at Reading’s Biscuit Factory, with host Vanilla Fuzion making a big mark with their first local show.

The first iteration of the show saw host Fuzion firmly lay their cards on the table with assured, accomplished live singing, as well as consummate hosting of the kind of ribald audience participation games which are a celebrated staple of drag shows.

They were joined by Drag Race New Zealand alum Flor, whose engaging lip-sync performances and opulent dress were befitting of her status as a Drag Race icon.

Completing the evening’s roster was Reading’s own Lentil Pulse, who brought her signature brand of humour to her performances of crowd-favourite songs with a cheeky twist.

Now the event is beginning to cement itself, as the next Kream Cabaret has been announced.

Fuzion will be joined by returning queen Lentil Pulse, as well as fellow local performer Miss Charley O’Llocks and Drag Race UK superstar Black Peppa.

Vanilla Fuzion said: “When I first got to Reading, I was really finding my feet– it might have ruffled a few feathers, but people have really shown up to support this.

“I want this to be monthly, featuring local guests and extra special guests; that could be Ru-girls, they’ll be well known.

“I want to give that opportunity for local queens to meet Ru-girls every time, and they get to make that connection.”

They also explained: “I used to sing as a boy, before drag, and I loved it, but I was very shy.

“Drag really allows me to engage with people more and get involved. It’s really helped me gain that confidence, and now I don’t get nervous.

“I just turn up and give people what they’re here to see: drag!”

After the show, Lentil Pulse said: “Drag is a very grassroots industry, and while you have things like Drag Race which help perpetuate it in the wider world, but it’s always important to include those origins.

“It’s always lovely to see familiar faces and new ones, and to be part of something like that.”

Kream Cabaret is returning to Reading Biscuit Factory, Queens Walk, on Friday, April 10, from 7pm.
