A match ticket from a 1954/55 match at Elm Park between Reading and Manchester United is expected to sell for more than £1,000 at an auction later this month.
Lot 2010 is part of a two-day auction starting on Wednesday, July 15, by Yorkshire-based auction house SportingGold.
The ticket tub allowed admission to the ground for the FA Cup third round match on 8 January, 1955.
It has been described as being “exceedingly rare”, and is guided at £1,000 to £1,200, plus fees.
It cost 2/6 at the time, equivalent to somewhere between £5 and £10 using today’s purchasing power.
A spokesperson for Sporting Gold told Wokingham Today: “This is an exceptionally scarce ticket.
“The last one that appeared sold for £1,400.
“This one has an early bid in place of £1,000 already .
If the lot reaches the top end of its guide price, the winning bidder could have also opted to purchase three adult season tickets to watch the club for the entire 2025/26 season for the same cost.
The auction also features lot 2735, a small collection of 1940s and 1950s Reading match programmes, guided at between £40 and £50.
