A man has been jailed after admitting a series of shoplifting offences and a burglary in a village near Reading.
Charlie Boorer, 27, of College Piece, Mortimer, was sentenced to six months in prison at Reading Magistrates’ Court on 24 September.
He pleaded guilty to three counts of shoplifting and one count of burglary other than a dwelling.
The offences involved thefts from the Co-op in Mortimer and the burglary of a log cabin in the village.
On the evening of 13 September, Boorer stole food from the Co-op on two separate occasions.
He returned to the shop five days later and stole drinks.
Boorer also admitted stealing power tools from a log cabin in Mortimer between 20 September and 7 October 2025.
Officers from the Pangbourne Neighbourhood Policing Team investigated the offences before Boorer was arrested and charged on 23 September.
PC Robert Hubbard-Clark, of the Pangbourne Neighbourhood Policing Team, said the sentence demonstrated police’s commitment to tackling acquisitive crime.
“Shoplifting can have a significant impact on local businesses, particularly in rural communities, while burglary can leave victims feeling distressed and vulnerable,” he said.
“We remain committed to preventing these offences, thoroughly investigating reports and bringing those responsible before the courts.”
