READING Buses has announced a set of changes to some of its routes and timetables which are due to come into effect next month.

Most timetables have seen minor changes, with a small number of routes seeing changes to routes and stops.

Jetblack route 1 will see the introduction of a new 1e service, which will run hourly on Friday and Saturday evenings from Newbury Wharf and Cropper Close in Thatcham.

Lime route 2 will see more buses and an increased frequency to services, with additional services running during peak hours from Monday to Friday.

Buses will run up to every 20 minutes, and an extra Lime 2a service is set to run to and from AWE in Tadley in the morning and afternoon.

One Lime 2a service will extend to Mortimer every two hours on Sundays.

Purple route 17 will see late night services changed for Fridays and Saturdays, now running every 40m to help improve reliability.

Extra Purple 17 services will be added for early morning journeys on Sundays.

Berry route 23 will no longer run via Kidmore End Road and Courtenay Drive, instead serving Peppard Road and stopping at Kiln Road.

Berry route 24 will also stop serving Kidmore End Road and Courtenay Drive, instead running direct from The Black Horse to Barnard Close.

The Pink route 25 will now serve Kidmore End Road and Courtenay Drive in their place, stopping at Chalgrove Way, Crawshay Drive, and Courtenay Drive top.

Pink 25 will stop serving Kiln Road as a result.

The Mereoak 603 service is set to be replaced with the X3 services, which will continue to run from Reading Station to Shinfield Park, but now extending to Mereoak Park&Ride.

An additional service in each direction will be added for this route.

Emerald routes 5 and 6, Little Orange route 19, and Pink route 22 will see minor tweaks to timetabling to improve reliability.

Changes are due to come into effect on Monday, September 4, with details available via Reading Buses’ website: reading-buses.co.uk, or via the Reading Buses app.
