WINNER: MARY DODDS SPONSORED BY READING FOOTBALL CLUB

A woman who started a local Motor Neurone Disease Association group after the death of her husband from the illness has been dubbed “awesome” for her dedication.

Mary Dodds formed the Reading and West Berks group “many years ago to give people suffering from MND, and their relatives and friends, a chance to meet others in the same boat, as well as providing help, support and comfort in abundance.

“From very humble beginnings the group is now a major part of local MND sufferers’ lives and Mary is at the forefront of everything,” said her nominator for the Community Champion award.

“She is constantly doing work for this amazing charity, always making sure everyone is looked after, arranging events throughout the year to bring in much-needed funding and always with a lovely smile on her face.” they added.
